Ever felt a wave of emotion that came out of nowhere?Tears that surprised you?A tightness in your chest during a conversation — even though your brain said “everything’s fine”?
That’s your body talking. And that’s what somatic therapy helps us tune into.
🔹 What Is Somatic Therapy?
“Somatic” means of the body. Somatic therapy is an approach that recognizes that trauma, stress, and emotion don’t just live in our minds — they live in our nervous systems, our muscles, and our physiology.
While talk therapy works with your thoughts and emotions, somatic therapy listens to your felt experience — the tension, stillness, sensation, or movement your body holds.
🔹 Why This Work Matters (Especially in Transition)
When we’re going through change, our bodies often carry:
Unprocessed grief
Stored survival responses (like fight, flight, or freeze)
Old trauma patterns that were never given a voice
Through body-based awareness, movement, breath, and grounding, somatic therapy helps you release what’s been trapped — not just mentally, but physically.
🔹 What It Can Look Like in Session
Somatic therapy doesn’t have to be dramatic or overwhelming. It might include:
Tuning into where you feel emotion in the body
Pausing to notice posture or breath
Gentle movements to release stored energy
Learning what your body’s yes and no feel like
Over time, you’ll begin to rebuild your relationship with your body — not as a place of pain, but as a wise, sacred space that’s always been trying to protect you.
